Reclaimed Oak Picture Frame.
I’ve made this rustic picture frame out of reclaimed french barn oak.
Dating back 500 plus years this oak is absolutely beautiful, it’s pit sawn and still retains its original patina, my photo’s don’t do it justice!
This wood was used in a barn that housed livestock, this oak was part of a bigger beam that was used as a fence post keeping the animals secure. Each beam had a hole through the top where rope was threaded through- (I’ve filled the holes in on this frame) the natural rounded edges on these beams is where the cattle etc have rubbed themselves against it over hundreds of years.
I’ve left this Oak as original as I can, It’s been sympathetically cleaned and finished with a nourishing clear wax to enhance its natural beauty.
This picture frame can be hung either way up.
